Why New Zealand?
New Zealand has long been regarded as an innovative farming economy with an ability, due to abundant natural resources, to produce world-class produce at the lowest cost. Correspondingly farming has been challenging in the UK in recent years with animal health issues and government involvement with subsidies. As such farming in New Zealand has been seen by many as an attractive alternative.
We thought some quotes from previous clients might be insightful:
"It's a lot easier to do business in New Zealand with things being completed
so much quicker. Life and work are a lot less stressful, and we enjoy
regular holidays away together."
Stewart and Gill Moss, with children Charlotte, Dan, Harry and Jack.
Previously dairy farmers from Middlewich, Cheshire, now Kiwifruit
orchardists in the Bay of Plenty, NZ.
"We now have plenty of time to enjoy life and the NZ lifestyle of tramping,
rugby and going to the beach. We have been made very welcome by our
neighbours and are making new friends. Sarah has settled into her school
well."
Simon and Jacquie Chapman, with daughter Sarah. Previous executives from
Cambridgeshire, now happy owners of a lovely harbourfront lifestyle block in
Tauranga, NZ and running a foliage business.
"We have been all over the world - Europe, America, Africa - and this is
place is the best. I wish we had known about New Zealand 20 years ago when
we were younger. It's like finding paradise in a safe and civilised
community. There's something so special here, a kiwi spirit where people
help without expecting anything back".
Chris and Janet Watmore. Previously from Southport, now at Waitangi Lodge
on the shores of Lake Tarawera, NZ, where they've been for the past 10
years.
"I travelled to NZ as a teenager and just couldn't get the country out of my
blood. We are very impressed with the optimism of kiwi farmers. Kiwi
farmers are positive and confidently plan the future. We love the climate -
crisp clear winter days and warm summers."
John and Alison Gray. Previously farmed 300 acres in Cumbria, milking 200
cows. Purchased 580 acres milking 690 cows in Canterbury, NZ.
"New Zealand is a wonderful place to farm and we're very pleased we took the
step to move here. It is a great place to invest in the future, both for
ourselves and our children."
Bill and Lynda Davey. Arable farmers, previously of Lincolnshire, now Mid-Canterbury, NZ.
"New Zealand is a wonderful country to farm in with huge opportunities. I came here on a working holiday and fell in love with the place. You are encouraged to produce and rewarded for success, and the lifestyle is second to none in the world."
Richard Wright. Previously beef farmer from Devon. Now Dairy and Beef farmer Canterbury, NZ. Recent finalist in New Zealand Dairy Farmer of the Year
"We were mesmerised by the beauty. People are so nice and relaxed, even the officials help you. Everything we try and do is easier here because of the soils and the weather."
Michael and Georgina Rudge. Previously of Warwickshire, now cropping and fattening farmers, Canterbury, NZ.
"We were looking for somewhere relatively underpopulated, but relatively modern. The quality of life, lack of bureaucracy and friendliness of the community in New Zealand made the choice easy."
James and Clare Halford. Previously of Bedford, now cropping in Methven, NZ.
